As a faith community in the Christian tradition, we follow the example and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth, who we believe was God made real on earth. Jesus taught many things, but central to our understanding of our faith is his response to the question, “What is the greatest commandment in the whole of Hebrew scripture?”
Jesus replied, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the greatest and first commandment. And a second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”
One of the central tasks of any church is to help people connect to God at a deeper level and engage in practices that build up their love of God. We do this through worship, prayer, study, small group discussions, and other actions that promote our spiritual growth.
